Frequently Asked Questions & Coding Agent Troubleshooting

How do I connect Cursor IDE, Cline, or Roo Code to APIsRouter.dev?

In your coding agent settings, choose 'OpenAI Compatible', set the Base URL to https://apisrouter.dev/v1 (or http://localhost:3000/v1 locally), paste your apr-sk-live-... key, and set the model ID to apisrouter/auto or anthropic/claude-sonnet-4.5.

Why did I receive HTTP 401 (invalid_api_key) or HTTP 402 (insufficient_credits)?

HTTP 401 means your Authorization: Bearer apr-sk-live-... header is missing, disabled, or mistyped. HTTP 402 means either your Pay-As-You-Go wallet balance is $0.00 or that specific API key reached its custom USD spend cap.

What happens if I lose my apr-sk-live-... secret key?

For your protection, secret keys are hashed with SHA-256 and shown only once when generated. If you lose a key, simply disable/delete it in the API Keys & Wallet tab and generate a fresh key.

How does the apisrouter/auto Smart Router & Failover work?

When you set your model to apisrouter/auto, our gateway inspects prompt complexity and routes between frontier reasoning models and high-speed H200 coding clusters. If any cluster returns HTTP 429 or 5xx, it automatically fails over to the secondary cluster in the same request.

Do my Pay-As-You-Go credits ever expire?

No. Purchased Pay-As-You-Go wallet credits never expire and can be used across any model in the APIsRouter.dev Model Hub.
